A snowman that comes to life is sure to warm Lacey Chabert’s heart this winter.

The trailer for the Netflix film, which was released on Wednesday, October 23, begins with Kathy (Chabert) struggling to get through the cold months without heat. “My life is a mess right now,” she says.

That is, until one night she walks through the town and encounters a ripped snowman. “Clearly, you’ve been doing your push-ups,” Kathy jokes before placing her pink scarf around the sculpture’s neck. “You know what? You keep it.”

Suddenly, the snowman begins to transform into a real person — and one with abs. “This holiday season is about to get hot,” text over the video reads.

Hallmark queen Lacey Chabert is expanding her holiday movie repertoire with her upcoming Netflix film. Chabert, 41, is slated to star in the Christmas rom-com Hot Frosty, which joins the streaming service’s 2024 holiday slate alongside Lindsay Lohan’s Our Little Secret and Christina Milian’s Meet Me Next Christmas. The movie will follow Chabert as Cathy, […]

The snowman named Jack (Dustin Milligan), who has nothing but a scarf to his name, begins walking around town after stealing clothes and boots. After encountering a woman who’s car is stuck in a snowbank, the snowman crosses paths with Kathy.

“Excuse me. Can I help you?” Kathy asks, before taking him to the doctor’s office where he explains that he was a snowman.

After admitting to Kathy that he did, in fact, steal coveralls and boots, she offers him more clothes. “But, you’re going to have to try them on,” she says, to which the snowman begins stripping. “Oh! No. Not right now,” she yelps while covering her eyes.

The trailer cuts to the snowman being interrogated by the police, who suspect that he has “something to hide.” While talking with the officer (played by The Office’s Craig Robinson), the snowman begins sweltering in the temperature.

Temperatures are dropping at Netflix. As rom-coms continue to rule the holiday season, the streaming service has begun to rival staple networks like Hallmark and Lifetime in its seasonal content. For 2024, fans can expect a star-studded cast across a handful of films all guaranteed to put them in the mood for cocoa, caroling and […]

“If we could just turn the temperature down,” the snowman pleads, leading Kathy to question what is occurring.

As he spends more time with Kathy, the snowman seeks advice on how to pursue dating — since, of course, he has never been in a relationship. While seemingly talking with Kathy, the snowman says, “I want to make the most of the time I have with you.”

A series of clips between the snowman and Kathy begin playing, with text over the trailer reading, “He’s going to melt your heart.”

As Kathy and the snowman almost lock lips, she says in a voiceover, “For a snowman, you’re one heck of a romantic.”

Before the trailer concludes, a clip plays of Kathy and the snowman watching TV as Lindsay Lohan comes onto the screen.

“That is so funny. That looks just like a girl I went to high school with,” Kathy says, referencing the 2004 Mean Girls movie Chabert, 42, starred in alongside Lohan, 38.

Hot Frosty, which was announced in May, is part of the streamer’s 2024 holiday lineup. When discussing the project on Wednesday, Chabert called the film “really funny and light and lovely.”

“But there is also a throughline of a lot of heart, and all of these characters are kind of going through something — whether it’s something more comedic or something more deeply emotionally rooted,” Chabert told Netflix’s Tudum. “I think this movie has a very special tone to it.”

Hot Frosty drops on Netflix November 13.
